Kalyumet, Inc. Policies

COVID-19 Update 7/1/2020

On July 1, 2020, the PA Department of Health issued an order making the wearing of face masks or coverings mandatory throughout PA when individuals are outdoors and unable to consistently maintain a distance of 6’ from individuals who are not members of their household and in any indoor location where members of the public are permitted.

Masks have always been required, and will continue to be required, to enter our store, Fore Fun and other buildings.  The mask requirement also applies when you come to the store window and when you enter the building to use the front restrooms. Masks continue to be required to participate in activities.

When you are off-site, you do not have to wear a mask if you are with people from your own household or are maintaining a distance of 6’ from others.  However, you should have a mask with you in the event you encounter staff or campers from outside your household. You should wear a mask if you are with people who are not members of your household. Please remind your children that they must wear a mask when they are gathering within 6’ of other children who are not members of their household.

Our goal is to maintain a safe camping environment for our guests and our staff. We need everyone’s cooperation in order to remain compliant with the state requirements and to remain operational.

Thank You,

Becky & Mark

COVID-19 Update 6/6/2020

Following are the COVID-19 Policies & Procedures in place at Kalyumet Camping & Cabins effective 6/6/2020.

Campers are able to interact with people at their campsite who are camping on other sites and are not part of their household. CDC social distancing requirements, of remaining 6’ apart and wearing a face mask remain in effect, unless the individual cannot wear a mask due to a medical condition or is a child under the age of 2.

Camping remains limited to self-contained camping units and our full-service cabin.  As restrooms are closed, tent camping, rental rooms and pop-ups without bathroom facilities cannot be accommodated at this time.

Unfortunately, campers are not allowed to have outside visitors while they are camping.  If you have a reservation, please tell your family and friends they will not be allowed to visit.

Store/office hours are posted. Guests may either use window service or come inside. If you choose to enter the store, you must wear a face mask and have your hands sanitized.

Fore Fun will resume daily operations, beginning 6/8/2020. Fore Fun will offer curbside food service, miniature golf, yummy cartons of Perry’s ice cream, cyclones, milkshakes and Pepsi products. The arcade and redemption counter will be open and spin tees will be available.  Occupancy limits will be in place. You must wear a mask and have your hands sanitized in order to enter.  Fore Fun will be closed on Tuesdays.

Unfortunately, the following areas at the campground remain closed at this time – restrooms, laundry room, playground, pool, gaga ball pit, volleyball and group activities and events.

The following areas at Kalyumet Fore Fun will also be closed – laser tag & VR escape room.

Campers must wear a face mask at the following times:

  • when they enter the store/office or when they visit Kalyumet Fore Fun
  • at all times when they interact with staff
  • when off their campsite with people other than those registered at their site
  • anytime someone who is not registered at a campsite is at a different site
  • anytime you are offsite in an area where you may encounter other guests

Practice Healthy Habits

Guests are asked to practice healthy habits to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

  • If you feel sick please reschedule your visit for another time.
  • Guests are asked to maintain a physical distance of at least 6 feet from staff and campers who are not registered at your campsite.
  • Wash your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds with soap & water.
  • Avoid touching your face and sneeze or cough into a tissue or the inside of your elbow.
  • Please wear a mask or face covering when off your site or with a camper from another site.

As always, our goal is to provide facilities that are clean and well maintained. At this time, we have enhanced our already high cleaning standards by adding sanitization to the cleaning process. Although we are enhancing our procedures, it is important that everyone understands we cannot guarantee every surface is COVID free. We cannot overstate how important it is that everyone continue to participate in “Slow the Spread” practices.

Thank you for your cooperation.

COVID-19 Update 4/29/2020

On Monday 4/27/2020, Governor Wolf granted permission for private campgrounds to open in the state of PA with several stipulations.  As we have indicated previously, the safety of our guests, our employees and our community remain our top priority. In line with this, we do not feel we can responsibly open for camping on May 1, 2020. Our original plans were modeled after what was considered safe and appropriate for the state park campground. At this time, the state park campground is not scheduled to open until May 14, 2020.

We are excited to get open for the season and welcome campers back; however, we are proceeding with caution. The plan we have developed allows us to resume limited operations while prioritizing public health and safety. Effective Friday May 8, 2020 at 10:00 AM we will open for our seasonal campers.  Between May 8, 2020 and May 17, 2020, Kalyumet will only be open for the seasonal campers. This will enable our seasonals to get their trailers open and become familiar with the guidelines we are all required to follow and we must enforce in order to remain open.

In our current plan, overnight guests will be welcomed back on Sunday, May 17, 2020. Only campers in self-contained camping units will be allowed. Tent camping will not be allowed until further notice.

As stated above, there are orders from the Governor, orders from the PA Department of Health, Federal Mitigation guidelines and CDC guidelines that must be followed by businesses and individuals when engaging in outdoor activities. Following are some of the restrictions which will be in place when we open:

  1. We are required to limit staff and limit customer interaction.
  2. We must have written policies in place to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
  3. You can only visit the campground if you feel healthy, are not exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms and have not been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. This applies to everyone in your trailer.  Please be considerate of your fellow campers.
  4. Social distancing of 6’ must be maintained with other campers and staff at all times.
  5. Everyone over the age of 2 is required to wear a mask or face covering any time they are off of their campsite.
  6. Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds and use hand sanitizer containing at least 60 percent alcohol. Please avoid touching common surfaces.
  7. Create a plan for enjoying the outdoors before heading to the campground. Please be sure children understand they must keep their distance from others. If they see a friend or family member who is not registered for their site; they cannot approach them.
  8. Campers are only permitted to have the people they registered when they checked-in on their site or in their trailer. No other individual or family may be on your campsite or in your trailer at any time during your stay.
  9. No visitors are allowed.
  10. We will adopt an enhanced cleaning schedule of frequently touched surfaces using CDC and/or EPA approved disinfectants.
  11. Restrooms, shower facilities and laundry facilities will be closed until further notice. No tenting is allowed.
  12. Store and office transactions will be conducted over the phone. Store purchases will be available through curbside pick-up. Minimal entry into the store will be allowed. Anyone coming into the store will have their temperature taken and will have their hands sanitized.
  13. Store hours will be reduced in order to provide sufficient time for the enhanced cleaning and sanitizing which must be performed.
  14. Group activities which involve interaction with other individuals and families are not allowed. Unfortunately, this means some of our favorite activities such as fire truck rides, trackless train rides and popcorn are not allowed.
  15. Common areas must be closed. This includes areas such as the playground, ga-ga ball, volleyball, basketball, mini-golf, arcade, VR escape room, laser tag, recreation hall, pavilion and community campfire.
  16. If you have not already downloaded campersAPP to your phone, we recommend that you do. We will use this for communications as well as some fun socially distanced activities. It is available in the App Store or through Google Play.

In addition to the above, there will be specific instructions posted on-site outlining the procedures for propane refills, curbside food service at Fore Fun, hours of operation for the store and office, etc.

Each registered campsite will be given a copy of our COVID-19 Written Plan, which is a requirement of being allowed to open.  They will be required to sign a confirmation acknowledging receipt of the document and agreement to follow the guidelines contained within.

These procedures are fluid and could change at any time. They will be modified accordingly, to remain in alignment with State, Federal and CDC requirements. We are depending on everyone’s cooperation as we begin this most unusual camping season. We realize these requirements are restrictive but they are necessary if we are to remain open. We are depending on everyone’s full cooperation. Remember, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the great outdoors while maintaining social distancing. If you have any questions give us a call at 814-744-9622.

Thanks for your patience and understanding and stay safe,

Becky & Mark
